We’ll ensure you receive personalised care, clear follow-up instructions, and ongoing monitoring where needed.
Aclasta
(Zoledronic acid) is a treatment for osteoporosis that helps strengthen you bones and protect them from fractures.
An Effective Treatment for Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis, often referred to as the “brittle bones”, weakens bones, making them fragile and susceptible to fractures. It is a common condition among older adults, especially postmenopausal women, and can significantly impact mobility and independence.
What is Zoledronic Acid (Aclasta™)?
Zoledronic Acid is a potent bisphosphonate medication that plays a crucial role in treating osteoporosis. Administered intravenously, it works by slowing down bone loss, increasing bone strength and reducing the risk of fractures.
How is the infusion given?
Zoledronic Acid (Aclasta™) is given as an infusion over 30 minutes. Your doctor will discuss with you a treatment plan for any ongoing infusions.
Patients who have broken their hip should not receive Aclasta any earlier than two weeks after the operation to repair the fracture.
What is the cost of an Aclasta infusion?
The cost of administering an Aclasta infusion is outlined below.
$165 with a Medicare rebate of $43.90
